Emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway between the two Norris Arm exits in central Newfoundland on Sunday evening, February 22.

Lewisporte Regional Fire Rescue, along with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and NL Health Services, responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate a passenger from one vehicle. Once removed, the individual was transferred to awaiting paramedics and assessed at the scene. The extent of injuries has not been confirmed.

The collision caused traffic delays in the area as emergency crews worked to secure the scene and assist those involved. The highway has since been fully cleared and traffic is flowing normally.
