Pedestrian Taken to Hospital Following Collision in Downtown St. John’s

St. John’s , NL – On Friday night (October 24), shortly before 10:20 p.m., firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), along with members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) and NL Health Services (NLHS), responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision on New Gower Street in front of the Delta Hotel.
Firefighters were first to arrive on the scene and found a person lying in the right lane surrounded by bystanders. Firefighters quickly attended to the downed person, and once paramedics arrived, they were assisted to a nearby ambulance and transported to hospital with injuries that were not reportedly serious in nature.
The driver of the car that struck the pedestrian was not injured and is cooperating with the police investigation.
Officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Collision Team closed off New Gower Street between Waldegrave Street and Buchanan Street westbound to conduct an investigation into the collision
