Single-Vehicle Accident Sends One Person to Hospital

Emergency crews were called to the scene of an apparent single-vehicle accident early Thursday morning in Torbay.

The incident occurred around 2:35 AM near the beginning of the Kevin Parsons Highway (Torbay Bypass), close to Torbay Road, where a vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch.

Members of the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department, paramedics with NL Health Services, and officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) responded to the call.

The occupant(s) of the vehicle were already out upon the fire departments arrival. Paramedics assessed one individual at the scene before transporting them to hospital. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

The vehicle is marked with caution tape and as of this afternoon the vehicle is still in the ditch and has not been recovered.
