Just before 8:30 p.m. on March 12 a vehicle struck two moose on the Outer Ring Road between the Team Gushue Highway and Thorburn Road in the westbound lanes. Both moose were killed in the collision, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) responded to the scene and temporarily closed both westbound lanes to manage the situation. Conservation officers were also called in to remove the deceased moose from the roadway.

After a brief closure, one lane was reopened to traffic, and later, all lanes were cleared and reopened. The vehicle involved in the crash sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene.

Please remember to be cautious when traveling in areas where wildlife is known to roam, especially during the evening and early morning hours.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation
