Two On Saturday morning (October 25), shortly after 8:40 a.m., firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD), along with members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) and NL Health Services (NLHS), were called to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover on the Outer Ring Road, just west of the Team Gushue Highway in the westbound lanes in St. John’s
When emergency crews arrived, they found a single vehicle on its roof in a ditch with two occupants trapped inside. Firefighters began using hydraulic tools, such as the Jaws of Life, to extricate both occupants from the mangled vehicle. Once freed, both were assisted to a stretcher and transported to the hospital with unknown injuries; however, both individuals were conscious and alert prior to transport.
Officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Patrol Services and Traffic Services closed the Outer Ring Road westbound at Team Gushue Highway to document the crash.
The vehicle appeared to be travelling eastbound on the Outer Ring Road heading toward Team Gushue Highway when it lost control, entered the median, and reportedly rolled over several times. In the process, the vehicle collided with a guardrail in two different spots before coming to rest on its roof in the westbound ditch.
The highway remained closed while crews continued to investigate and remove the vehicle
