TWO PEOPLE RESCUED AFTER GETTING LOST

Two people who became lost after venturing off a trail near Buchans were located and safely returned home Wednesday night with the help of Red Indian Lake Ground Search and Rescue volunteers.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on August 25, Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP received a report of two overdue individuals who had become lost after going off a trail in the Buchans area.

The pair were not injured and were able to provide their coordinates to police, but said they could not find their way back to the trail.

Police contacted local volunteers with Red Indian Lake Ground Search and Rescue, who travelled to the coordinates provided and located the two individuals.

Both were returned home safely and were reported to be in good health.

The RCMP thanked Ground Search and Rescue volunteers across Newfoundland and Labrador for their continued dedication to helping people in emergency situations and supporting the safety of communities throughout the province.
