Two separate single-vehicle accidents occurred in St. John’s Friday night, with both incidents likely linked to poor weather conditions, including heavy rain and fog.
The first accident took place just before 10:30 PM on Mount Scio Road. The St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) responded to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was assessed by paramedics but did not sustain any serious injuries. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) attended the scene and placed police tape around the vehicle for removal at a later time.
Shortly before 11:00 PM, another call came in for a single-vehicle accident on Pitts Memorial Drive, in the eastbound lanes between Pearltown Road and Heavy Tree Road. Again, the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was uninjured. Emergency responders from SJRFD evaluated the driver, who was cleared at the scene. As with the first accident, the RNC secured the vehicle with police tape for future removal.
No serious injuries were reported in either of the incidents, and both accidents were cleared without further incident.
