SECURITY GUARD ASSAULTED AT AVALON MALL SHOPPING CENTRE

A 43-year-old man has been charged with assault following an incident at the Avalon Mall Shopping Centre in St. John’s Friday night.


At approximately 9:10 p.m. on August 21st, Officers with the RNC’s Operational Patrol Services responded to a theft complaint in progress at business inside of the Avalon Mall.


Officers conducted an investigation and learned that the business did not wish to pursue theft charges. However, police determined that during interactions with security, the accused allegedly punched a security guard in the face.


Officers later located and arrested the 43-year-old man, who was charged with assault.


He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
