OFF-DUTY FIRST RESPONDERS AID COLLISION VICTIMS ON VETERANS MEMORIAL

Trinity-Conception District RCMP is investigating a two-vehicle collision that resulted in the closure of Veterans Memorial Highway Tuesday morning.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. on August 25, police in Bay Roberts received a report of a collision on Veterans Memorial Highway (Route 75), between the North River and Bay Roberts exits.

No serious injuries were reported to police at the scene. The collision required the closure of the highway while RCMP, Emergency Medical Services personnel, Bay Roberts Fire Rescue and the Bay de Grave Regional Fire Department responded.

Before on-duty emergency responders arrived, assistance was provided by two off-duty paramedics, an off-duty volunteer firefighter and a civilian witness.

RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador extended its sincere thanks to the group for their support and commitment to public safety.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
