FRAUDULENT WEBSITE IMPERSONATING MYGOVNL TARGETING SPEED CAMERA PAYMENTS

(Oct 4th)
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is warning the public about a fraudulent website impersonating MyGovNL and attempting to collect payments for speed camera tickets.
Officials are reminding residents that payments should only be made through Fines Administration.
The public is also being advised to verify they are using an official Government of Newfoundland and Labrador website before entering any personal or financial information.
Residents should confirm their personal information and vehicle details before making a payment and remain cautious when scanning QR codes or clicking links that do not lead to official government websites.
Anyone who believes they have made a payment through a fraudulent website is advised to contact their financial institution immediately and report the incident to local police.
For information about paying tickets, residents can visit the Motor Registration website or call 1-877-636-6867.
More information on identifying scams and staying safe online is available through the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, Get Cyber Safe, and CyberSafeNL.
