FIREFIGHTERS HIT THE ROAD FOR 2026 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK

The first day of Fire Prevention Week was today, October 4th, with a parade through several Northeast Avalon communities, bringing local emergency services together for the 2026 Fire Prevention Parade.
The parade kicked off at approximately 12:00 p.m. in Portugal Cove-St. Philips before travelling through Torbay, Flatrock, Pouch Cove and Bauline.
Taking part in the parade were members of the Portugal Cove-St. Philips Volunteer Fire Department, Torbay Volunteer Fire Department, Pouch Cove Volunteer Fire Department, Rovers Search and Rescue and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
The event marked another successful fire prevention parade, with emergency departments taking part and spectators gathering along the route.
The parade was one of many events taking place throughout the week.
