RCMP APPREHENDS IMPAIRED DRIVER

(Oct 5th)
A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop in Marystown Friday night.
At approximately 11:40 p.m. on October 2, Burin Peninsula RCMP conducted a routine traffic stop on Creston Boulevard.
The driver, a 49-year-old man from Lewin’s Cove, showed signs of impairment and failed a roadside breath test. He was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.
The man was transported back to the RCMP detachment, where further testing confirmed his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
His vehicle was seized and impounded by police, and his driver’s licence was suspended.
The man was released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in Grand Bank Provincial Court in November 2026 to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation over 80 mg%.
RCMP remind the public that operating any motor vehicle while impaired is a choice that places the driver and others at an unnecessary and unacceptable level of risk.
Anyone who suspects an individual is driving while impaired is asked to immediately call 911 to make a report.
