TRAFFIC STOPS LEAD TO IMPAIRED DRIVING ARRESTS

Two separate traffic stops in St. John’s on Tuesday night (Oct 6th), resulted in arrests after drivers were accused of refusing to provide breath samples.
At approximately 9:13 p.m. on October 6th, a member of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s Operational Patrol Services conducted a traffic stop in the area of Blackmarsh Road.
During the investigation, a 35-year-old female was arrested for impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Her vehicle was impounded.
Later that evening, at approximately 10:47 p.m., an RNC Operational Patrol Services officer conducted another traffic stop in the area of Torbay Road.
Police arrested the 34-year-old male driver for refusing to provide a breath sample. He was released from custody with a future court date, and his vehicle was impounded.
The two incidents occurred approximately 90 minutes apart.
