(June 18th)
Around 10:00 a.m on Thursday (June 18th), The RNC’s Weapons and Drugs Enforcement Unit (WDEU), with the assistance of the RNC’s Tactics and Rescue Unit supported by the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, RNC Patrol Services, RNC Criminal Investigation Division, and RNC Police Dog Services, executed a warrant at a home on Hatcher Street near University Avenue in St. John’s.
Schools in the area were notified of the planned operation, and a shelter-in-place directive was issued for Hatcher Street and the section of University Avenue between Hatcher and Paton Streets. The shelter-in-place was lifted just after 12 p.m.
As a result of the operation, ten (10) people exited the property; two of whom were wanted on outstanding warrants. A search of the residence led to the seizure of a small quantity of pills, drug paraphernalia including scales, and an imitation handgun.
The investigation is ongoing.
