WOMAN CHARGED AFTER CARBONEAR HIT-AND-RUN

(Oct 6th)
Harbour Grace RCMP arrested a 57-year-old Carbonear woman on Saturday night following a reported hit-and-run collision in Carbonear.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on October 3, police responded to a report of a collision at a residence on London Road. The caller reported that a vehicle had crashed into their car and left the scene, and that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
The victim provided police with a description of the vehicle, which officers later located parked nearby.
Police noted clear signs of impairment and arrested the woman without incident. She was transported to the Bay Roberts detachment, where she provided breath samples that were more than two times the legal limit.
The 57-year-old woman was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation while impaired over 80mg%.
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in December 2026.
Her driver’s licence was suspended, and her vehicle was seized and impounded by police.
RCMP remind the public that operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol puts the driver and others at increased risk of serious injury or death. Anyone who suspects someone is driving while impaired is asked to call 911 immediately.
